I would like to publically acknowledge the pontoon boat driver who rescued the stranded canoeists on  Middle Muldrew Lake on Sunday July 16th during the early evening severe wind and rain storm. His actions certainly demonstrate the type of community spirit we value  on our lake. As the storm intensified, I realized how tragic this situation could have been had he not been driving by and  immediately stopped to rescue them.

Beau Desvreau was found guilty in court today July 05, 2017 of all charges ( two counts of theft over $5,000 and one count of theft under $5,000 ) along with other charges relating to other incidents.  For our theft, he was sentenced to 9 months in jail, 12 months probation and restitution (for the difference in the value of what was stolen and the amounts received from insurance).  This would not have been possible without the security cameras that were installed on our property (which we did because of two previous thefts probably from the same people). Locked gates, locked snowmobile trailer, signs saying that we had a security system did not deter these people.  Let's make our lake safe from thefts and look out for one another's home away from home.

I'd just like to make Muldrew cottagers aware of something that happened at
a cottage on North Muldrew in the area of Indian Landing. On Monday night
about 12:30, my daughter and her friend were awakened by someone on the dock
who shone a flashlight at the window. They could hear voices down by the
dock and they yelled out to "go away", which it seemed they did. However, in
the morning they realized the motor on the boat was gone, along with the
battery and gas can. It was a 1 year old, 15 horse, Honda with an electric
start. It was bolted to the transom and the gas can was chained to the boat.
The theft was reported to the OPP, they were not encouraging as far as ever
seeing it again. Ours is a water access cottage and needless to say we feel
rather less secure at the cottage than we did previously. If anyone heard or
saw anything suspicious that night, we would like to hear about it.

Please email or call 416-312-6012 if you find our red Langford canoe. It was last seen on our dock in Pattersons Bay.

    Thank you.

We saw a bear cub waling close to the west shore on the crown land at the S bend between North and South Muldrew Lake while we were canoeing on Saturday May 27th. We were in the bay

He scampered up the hill as soon as he saw us.

Water quality is something we can all agree is important. Assurance that our water quality is protected is done through testing that is volunteer driven.

The MLCA is seeking volunteers for the following two important activities:

#1  Testing to be performed in the spring and at approximately 2 week intervals throughout the summer season in the Kerr Island area.  Easy to do, training provided!

#2  Hosting the benthic testing event for the Patterson's Bay location.  This is about a 3 hour commitment, and is pretty interesting ... especially if you like bugs.

Please contact Cindy Fenwick at 519 831 1908 if you're interested in learning more.
