Another successful Swim & Canoe Regatta has come and gone.  It was a great time, and the weather cooperated quite nicely.

Hope to see all the familiar faces again and welcome many new comers in 2020.

Thanks to those who tested out our newly added “pre-registration” process.  We’ll bring it back nice and early next year.

Here’s some shots from the event.

Send in more if you’d like to share them, we’d love to keep them coming.

    Just a quick heads up.
There is Giant Hogweed on Peninsula rd, pretty much opposite the driveway of 400.
For those who aren't aware. This stuff can cause really bad burns to anybody touching it.
And it's confirmed, I sent the photos to invadingspecies.com

Have you seen a missing dock near Pine Island on North Muldrew?

It is approximately 10'x9' with a small ramp on it.

It was lost near Pine Island 3NM2 on North Muldrew Lake (close to the Middle Church portage between North and Middle Lake).

If you've seen this missing dock or know where it is, kindly contact Kendall Anderson at 416-518-4465

Many Thanks and Safe Boating while this dock is still out there.

    Gravenhurst Opera House Summer Brochure.pdf

    Dear Lake Dwellers!

It seems as though spring may have forgotten its roadmap but I’m sure we’ll be complaining about the hot weather in due time.  In the meantime, we are very excited to welcome you back to cottage and boating season on our beautiful Muskoka waterways.

The Gravenhurst Opera House has another terrific summer season planned and we couldn’t wait to tell you all about it!

The Gravenhurst Opera House has been a cultural cornerstone since 1901 and with that tradition in mind, we are happy that it continues to be a focal point for great entertainment all year long.

Summer Theatre in Canada started right here 85 years ago and we are very proud to continue the cherished tradition of professional summer theatre in our beautiful, historic venue.

Our 2019 Summer Theatre season will make you laugh, cry and dance in the aisles.  Opening with Harvest (June 26 to July 19), the story of a rental deal that goes ‘to pot’ or ‘up in smoke’. Well, you get the idea.  This very timely and very funny play by Canadian playwright Ken Cameron is a brilliantly written two hander, based on his parents’ real life experience.

This season’s musical takes us back to the days of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis!  This famous duo was loved around the world but their partnership didn’t last.  Dean & Jerry: What Might Have Been (July 24 to August 16) by Jesse Collins, delivers a very funny concert of old standards and old jokes.  Accompanied by a full band, stars of the show; Derek Marshall and Nicolas Arnold will transport you back to the clubs of Vegas.

The final theatre production of the summer is Kalamazoo (September 11 to 27).  This lovely story by Michelle Kholos Brooks and Kelly Younger finds Peg and Irving both alone in their later years.  Encouraged by family, they turn to on-line dating.  What could possibly go wrong?  More importantly, what could go right?  With second chances filled with humourous moments, this romantic comedy delivers a new lease on life for this unlikely couple.

**Don’t forget about our Show Us You’re Local Program.  If you pay taxes in the Town of Gravenhurst, bring us proof of residency and you’ll receive our Local 2 for 1 rate for our summer theatre performances.  That’s $20 per ticket on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays all summer long!  (tickets must be purchased in pairs). We also have group and package rates.  Just check in with our Box Office and they’ll be happy to tell you all about the great ways to save.

Our summer concerts are also a must see!  On Saturday, June 8th we have one of Toronto’s favourite bands, The Jive Bombers who will have you jumpin’ and jivin’ in the aisles.  They’re also bringing special guest Johnny Max with them who we all know and love!  On Saturday, August 17thJack Hutton & Friends will be back with what they’re calling their ‘Farewell Tour’.  Jack and friends are world renowned ragtime and jazz players which always makes for a fun night.  Grammy nominated producer and musician, Lance Anderson will be back this year with another incredible line up that will take us back 50 years to Woodstock, the festival of festivals!  On Saturday, August 24thWoodstock at 50 will feature many highlights from that unforgettable weekend.  This year’s Summer Season Wrap Up concert on Saturday, September 28th features North America’s Premier tribute to ‘Tapestry, The Carole King Songbook’ starring Suzanne O Davis.

We’ve attached our summer season brochure and an ad for you to share with your members, include in your newsletters or on your social media channels to help spread the word about our Show Us You’re Local program and how you can sign up for our e-newsletters.

Our Box Office is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm and 10:00 am until show time on performance days.  You can purchase tickets in person or by phone at 705-687-5550 or toll free at 1-888-495-8888.  The Box Office email address is operahouseboxoffice@gravenhurst.ca .  For a full listing of what is happening at the Opera House, please visit our website at www.GravenhurstOperaHouse.com

The Gravenhurst Opera House is Muskoka’s oldest entertainment tradition and the place to be all summer long!  Be sure to mark your calendars for all these great show!

We look forward to welcoming you back or for the very first time and hope that your time with us is treasured!
