    Hello fellow cottagers:

During this time of social distancing, we’re doing things a bit differently as many organizations are.

We’ll be continuing our Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser but bringing the event online.  You’ll still be able to bid on some of the community favourite items you’ve come to love, and we’ll be bringing some new items to our list of generous donations this year.

We’ve already secured a Muskoka Bay Resort Four-Some golf package; a Muskoka Brewery Dockside Draught package; along with some cool experiences like an Adult Dining Experience for 6 at the Riddell’s Cozy Cottage near Indian Landing; property maintenance service with Two Men a Tractor and a Chainsaw for those in need; and even a COVID friendly private Iyengar Yoga package for up to two participants including three classes right on your dock or deck for those needing to fill that fitness gap we're suffering from.

We’ll be launching the online store on Saturday July 11th at noon and it will remain open 24hrs a day through to August 1st at noon.   New items will be added throughout the 3 weeks of bidding to make things more exciting even if we can’t come together, so be sure and come check the online store regularly.

This year, proceeds from the funds raised will be put towards our Muldrew Lakes Plan fund while also helping support our friends at GAP (Gravenhurst Against Poverty) who need our support more than ever this year.

More donations are always welcome, so if you have a great item or needed service to put towards the cause, please contact us at MuldewLakesCA@gmail.com

Stay Tuned for more details on our Facebook page and look for our Auction landing page and Online store at www.muldrewlakes.ca Saturday.

For more information about the Muldrew Lakes Lake Plan please visit www.muldrewlakes.ca and visit the Lake Plan tab.

    Regards

    Your MLCA Silent Auction Team

The MNRF crew unpinned the dam and took a log out of Muldrew Lake dam following the severe thunderstorm on Wednesday.  Muldrew Lake rose 30cm overnight as a result of the 100+mm of rain that was received in the area on Tuesday.  We will monitor lake levels and will return the log and re-pin them back down when levels are back to where they are supposed to be.  Its really unfortunate that we received a storm like that, given the weather network was only calling for 15-20mm.  They were way off this time and a lot of the lakes saw a large increase as a result.  Muldrew Lake should react fairly quickly to the log operation so you should see some relief soon.

Rana from the Beer Store made a few calls and was able to set up a drop off location for bottle returns to be donated to Gravenhurst Against Poverty. GAP.

They will be accepting empties on GAPs behalf on Mondays and Wednesday’s. They have even setup a key on their Point of Sale which will accumulate the donations and send GAP a cheque once per month. What a spirit of community we have going on here in Gravenhurst.

GAP has gone from serving about 80 meals per week to delivering over 300 meals plus groceries during this pandemic which has resulted in a lot of job losses. So please share with your friends if you would like to participate.

    FIREWORKS ARE A GO!

Some good news in the midst of this pandemic.
We're pleased to announce that this years Canada Day Fireworks celebration will be taking place on Saturday July 4th as the night sky falls.

We're looking for some student volunteers who can help clean up after the fireworks show on Sunday July 5th at 9am.  Credit towards your school volunteer hours will be earned for helping.  Any interested volunteers are asked to contact Tim Luke at president@muldrewlakes.ca or 416-464-0470.

Look forward to seeing you all in the Big Bay.

Muldrew says goodbye to another fellow cottager.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the Peakers.

WESTELL GORDON PEAKER Aged 89, died peacefully at Trillium Mississauga Hospital on April 1, 2020 after a long and fulfilling life. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy-Jean (née Franklin); his children Susanne Hartman (Jerry), Joanne Gray (Michael), and Robert Peaker (Hilary); and his grandchildren Christopher, Melissa, Matthew, Andrew, and Noah. Predeceased by his brother, James Peaker. Special thanks to the ICU and Stroke units at Trillium Mississauga and Dr. A. Zee for their compassionate care and support. Wes, a Life Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, enjoyed a successful career in the fields of public accountancy and corporate finance. He enjoyed playing squash at the 'B&R', running at the Cambridge Club, spending time with family cottaging at Muldrew Lake, long daily walks with his beloved dogs, and discussing current events. If you so wish, a donation in Wes' honour to the Trillium Health Partners would be appreciated.

It's with great sadness that we share the news that Mimi Gillies died peacefully in her home on Wednesday April 8th.  Our thoughts go out to her family and friends (of which there were so many here on Muldrew).   Mimi will be missed by us all.
